Varkala

Located around 51 km from Thiruvanathapuram city, the coastal town Varkala is a frequently visited tourist destination. The tertiary sedimentary formation cliffs, known by as the Varkala Formation among geologists are a unique sight. Numerous waterspouts and spas dot the cliffs. The famous 3500-year-old Janardanaswamy Temple is situated at Varkala. The Papanasam beach, an Ayurveda treatment centre, located adjacent to the Temple is believed to have holy waters, which carry away sins.
